Wondrous Wanderings

An idyllic evening spent down at Poipu Beach Park on the South shore of Kauai as blue-hour fades. Aa all ambient light drains from the scene, the true magnificence of the Milky Way starts to reveal as your eyes adjust to the ever-fading light.

Tripod was essential and all techniques to eliminate any movement was taken. This is a fixed 35mm lens. I needed a fast enough exposure to mitigate any perceived motion blur created by the star rotation around Polaris. Since this was facing South, the blur would have been accentuated if the exposure was too long. IN this case it’s a balance between ISO and shutter speed. Motion blur of the crashing surf behind the distant rocks was an intentional effect to capture.
