absolute impressions from wondrous wanderings

Describing the restorative powers associated with heading out on an adventure and embracing a chapter of immersion in nature can escape words. An undeniable grounding rhythm of awareness kicks into function. It’s as if our intertwined connectedness to the natural world becomes a tangible foundation for our very being. Wandering insinuates a playful, informal and blissful browsing that reveals the wondrous “truth” of the natural world. Discovering picture-perfect moments available in the natural flow of exploring awe-inspiring environments is deeply therapeutic.

Research suggests our innate affinities towards nature as the system that sustains us. Our modern experience continually conditions us towards fear and our relationship to nature becomes the ultimate casualty. Despite our natural predisposition towards curiosity, the real restorative powers of time spend in nature finds increasing competition in a virtual worlds we create that disconnect us from each other and the very system that sustains us. Spending time in nature is such a simple, generally available and cathartic antidote to the often frenetic confusions of our rapid-fire society.

Fostering a deep gratitude for each and every opportunity to experience new environments, locations, and conditions, travel used to be focussed on biodiverse (entomological) hotspots such as Brazil. Ecuador and Indonesia. Since 2008, primary shoot location have included Hawaii, California, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Canada, Mexico, Nepal and Tibet.

Effective locations do not have to be half way across the globe and the process of discovery right in your own back yard can often be the most rewarding of all.

Every place has it’s perfect moment, but every moment can be perfect with the right eyes to “see”. Just being out there “seeing” means you are always finding treasures.
